Meet & Motivate at Park School

At Park School in Bolton, Genuine Futures CIC delivered a powerful Restore Young Futures – Meet & Motivate event, inspiring young people through lived experience, resilience, and hope.

The session was designed to show students that even when life takes difficult turns, it is possible to overcome challenges and build a brighter future.

A huge thank you to Park School for the warm welcome and the invitation to work with your pupils — it was an honour to share this journey with you. 💙

About Park School

Park School Teaching Service provides pupil-centred education tailored to meet the needs of every individual child. The school offers full-time education for Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils, enabling them to achieve external qualifications and supporting them with their transition into post-16 provision.

By hosting the Restore Young Futures programme, Park School gave its pupils the chance to hear from role models with lived experience — demonstrating the power of resilience, determination, and support in achieving success.

Feedback From Teachers

The response from staff at Park School was overwhelmingly positive.

Deputy Head Teacher Rachel Toole shared:

“Really good, really knowledgeable, the kids were really engaged. I will definitely be recommending you to our other schools.”

Learning Mentor Mr Bennett added:

“It was really good to hear your personal stories, your childhoods and experiences, and the success and determination you have overcome. I think it’s really good for our pupils to hear the life story of how things can go wrong but how you can become successful.”

Other staff described the session as “true to life and inspiring,” emphasising how important it is for students to hear these kinds of stories.

Quotes From Our Directors

Co-Director Sam Smith shared:

“For me, this is personal — to be back on the streets I grew up on, not just sharing my lived experience but creating opportunities for the next generation. It shows how far we’ve come, and how far these young people can go with the right support.”

Co-Director Mike Alleyne added:

“This event was about showing young people what’s possible. Restore Young Futures is more than a programme — it’s a pathway to belonging, purpose, and success. We’re proud to stand with schools like Park, and we’re even more excited to welcome these pupils to our Young Futures Hub.”

What Pupils Will Experience at the Young Futures Hub

When pupils from Park School visit the Young Futures Hub in Bolton, they will step into a space designed by young people, for young people. The Hub offers:

  • 🚗 We Shine Any Car – a youth-led car care and valeting enterprise, teaching teamwork, customer service, and responsibility.
  • 🤝 Mentoring & Coaching – one-to-one and group support to build confidence and resilience.
  • 🎨 Creative Enterprise – opportunities for young people to explore entrepreneurship in baking, art, design, and media.
  • 💬 Youth Voice & Leadership – platforms for young people to share their views, take ownership, and shape their future.
  • 🌱 Belonging & Wellbeing – a welcoming space that reduces isolation, improves mental health, and builds positive connections.

This experience helps pupils see real-world applications of enterprise and resilience, while giving them a safe environment to grow.

Looking Ahead

We are excited to welcome Park School pupils to the Young Futures Hub in the coming weeks. The Hub is more than a building — it’s a lifeline of support, skills, and opportunity that ensures no young person feels left behind.

The success of the event at Park School highlights the importance of motivational interventions in education.
