No Young Person Should Be Left Behind: Young Futures Hub Bolton & SEND Support
Posted on:
The Challenge We Face
Too many young people, especially those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), are falling through the cracks.
Across Bolton and beyond, there are gaps in services that leave young people without the right support at the right time. For those who are NEET (not in education, employment, or training), care leavers, or at risk of school exclusion, the result is often isolation, low confidence, and missed opportunities.
This is not just a statistic — it’s a daily reality for young people and families who feel the system has given up on them. More needs to be done to ensure every young person has access to meaningful opportunities that help them build brighter futures.
Our Response: The Young Futures Hub Bolton
At Genuine Futures CIC, we created the Young Futures Hub Bolton to provide a lifeline for those young people who might otherwise be forgotten.
Here, youth empowerment and youth leadership are at the centre of everything we do. From designing programmes to leading projects, young people don’t just take part — they shape the journey.
Some of the key opportunities at the Hub include:
- We Shine Any Car Bolton — our youth-led car wash and vehicle care enterprise, giving hands-on experience in teamwork, customer service, and business skills.
- Enterprise workshops in Bolton — supporting young people to turn passions like baking, art, or design into real micro-businesses.
- Youth mentoring & leadership programmes — building resilience, confidence, and the power of lived experience.
- Alternative provision in Bolton — supporting those at risk of school exclusion or with SEND needs through tailored education and accredited skills training.
Why It Matters
The Young Futures Hub Bolton is more than a building. It’s a place of:
- Connection — breaking down isolation through positive relationships.
- Conversation — helping young people share their stories and build confidence.
- Collaboration — working alongside schools, families, and partners to create sustainable change.
This is how we improve mental health, reduce risks of exploitation, and open doors to education, employment, and enterprise.
