Greater Manchester Social Enterprise Summit 2024.
Posted on:
An event full of energy, passionate leaders and organisations all delivering social action projects across Greater Manchester.
It’s always especially nice to meet connect and network with likeminded people, hearing the stories of driving positive action in the community having conversations around solutions to societal challenges that we all face.
Thank you to Greater Manchester Combined Authority, GMCVO, Manchester City Council and to all the speakers for putting together a wonderful event at a fantastic venue and a tasty lunch – it went down an absolute treat.
Leader of Manchester City council Bev Craig delivered an excellent presentation and challenged the audience with a powerful question “Who are we growing our economy for? Bev Said: “So we can over the next decade talk about how we grow our economy if we don’t connect that back into the question as to who we’re growing our economy for. And that for me is a really powerful argument and conversation that we have to have around particularly using your leadership in this room, around how we challenge our notions of what economic success is and who benefits for economic success. And it’s one of the reasons in the city region that we talk about a fairer, greener and more inclusive economy, but it’s because I don’t want us just to think about a very traditional economic model of prosperity. When we talk about prosperity, when we talk about wealth, we have to think about economic and we have to think about social prosperity, and the two go hand in hand.”
Looking forward working together contributing to building a fairer society, creating transformative programs across the city region for young people facing multiple barriers to employment bridging the gap to opportunity and to help them into work, or start and grow a business.
Collaboration is the key to unlocking potential to society’s challenges.
Stronger starts in our community together we can Inspire our youth.
Helping our communities’ children and young people unlock potential bridging the gap to employment opportunity.
