Genuine Futures Backs National Effort to Address Antisocial Behavior During ASB Awareness Week 2025

At Genuine Futures, we’re proud to stand alongside organisations across the UK in support of ASB Awareness Week 2025, a national campaign running from 30 June – 6 July that takes a stand against antisocial behaviour (ASB) and promotes safer, stronger communities.
This year’s theme is about early intervention, prevention, and community responsibility—values that are deeply woven into our mission. As a youth-led, solutions-focused programme, we believe the best way to reduce ASB isn’t just through enforcement, but by empowering young people with purpose, opportunity, and support.
Standing Up, Not Standing By
ASB Awareness Week, coordinated by Resolve UK, aims to shine a spotlight on the damage antisocial behaviour can do to individuals and neighbourhoods. But it also highlights the power of positive action—how local projects, national partnerships, and lived experience can help turn the tide.
At Genuine Futures, we know that many young people who are labelled as “antisocial” are often experiencing complex challenges—including trauma, exclusion from school, poverty, homelessness, and a lack of consistent adult support. That’s why we don’t just see the behaviour—we see the person behind it.
A Different Approach to a Deep-Rooted Problem
We’re proud to be part of a growing movement that believes change comes from understanding, not punishment.
Our programmes work with young people aged 15 to 24 who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET)—many of whom are at risk of getting caught up in ASB or entering the criminal justice system. Through mentoring, enterprise training, outdoor activities, community clean-up events, and real employment pathways, we help young people redirect their energy, build confidence, and find belonging in a way that benefits not just them—but the whole community.
From ASB to Aspiration
In Salford, Bolton, and beyond, we’ve seen young people go from feeling lost and labelled to becoming leaders, entrepreneurs, and mentors themselves. One participant told us, “I used to hang around with people causing trouble—now I’ve started my own small business. Genuine Futures gave me that chance.”
This is what tackling ASB at the root looks like: early intervention, consistent support, and showing young people that they matter.
A Call to Communities
As we mark ASB Awareness Week 2025, we call on communities, councils, schools, and businesses to invest in prevention, not just punishment. When we offer young people something to say yes to, the pull of negative choices starts to fade.
Let’s keep building safe, inclusive communities—not by pushing people out, but by pulling them in.
