“I work as an NHS Social Prescriber in Westhoughton, Bolton and it is my role to help Patients to find support in the Community which is free and appropriate to their needs. I first heard about Genuine Futures when I met Sam through a mutual friend. I had been struggling to support one of my elderly ladies who needed her large lawns mowing. My lady struggles with a severe Pollen Allergy and she was housebound due to the overgrown garden and amount of Pollen it was producing. Her gardener had let her down for a few months and she was feeling very distressed. Sam told me about Genuine Futures and the amazing young people he works with. The Genuine Futures Team worked swiftly in a timely-fashion to come and meet my lady, they were friendly, professional and very hardworking.
They mowed the lawn on an excessively hot day without any complaints. All members of the team were enthusiastic about this project, how they could help my lady and learn new skills. My lady was over the moon with the result, she couldnβt thank Genuine Futures enough and I can’t thank them enough for their person-centered approach to problem-solving, hard work and dedication to a project.
I wish there were more Social Enterprises like Genuine Futures as the need for a service to help the Community is huge, I really hope they can secure more funding to help the vulnerable people in our Community whilst also helping themselves to learn and grow. I enjoyed meeting the team and I hope to work with them again in the near future.”
