From Terraces to Triumph: A Lifelong Manchester United Fan’s Call for Support from the Class of ’92
Posted on:
Mike Alleyne, a dedicated Manchester United fan born in Stretford, has been captivated by football since his youth. He has fond memories of watching legends like Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Nicky Butt, and the Neville brothers dominate the field at Old Trafford. Today, as a business growth coach and director of Genuine Futures, a community interest company, Mike is driven by a different goal: to empower young people who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET). His mission now brings him to Salford City F.C., co-owned by the very football icons he admired.
Mike recently visited Salford City F.C. to discuss the “Boss Your Future” programme, an initiative aimed at helping young people gain valuable employment skills. He is seeking support from the club’s co-owners, hoping they will understand the potential impact their involvement could have.
“It’s not just about football. It’s about giving back to the community and providing real opportunities for young people,” Mike explains. “The Class of ’92 has the power to inspire and create change. By supporting this initiative, they can help shape the future of many young lives.”
Why Host This Event?
The “Boss Your Future” programme aims to empower young individuals by providing them with opportunities to learn new skills, interact with professionals, and build their confidence. Mike believes that with the right guidance and support, these young people can thrive in the job market and beyond.
Enhance Your Business’s Reputation
Participating in this initiative is not just altruistic; it’s also a smart business move. By showing community involvement, businesses can enhance their reputation and demonstrate a commitment to nurturing future talent.
Join a Successful Initiative
The charity pop-up car washes have been a success across Greater Manchester and Lancashire, with both participants and businesses reaping the benefits. Susan Mayall, Partner and Employment Law Solicitor at Pearson Solicitors and Financial Advisers Ltd, shared, “Fantastic really, really good. I couldn’t be happier with what the lads have done and I hope you could back.” Now, it’s Salford’s turn to shine.
What Does Hosting Require?
For You: Just a small space to wash and valet cars—minimal effort with maximum impact!
For Us: We’ll manage the logistics and offer young participants a valuable experience in learning about the job market and developing interpersonal skills.
Positive Impact and Looking Ahead
The big charity pop-up car washes have received positive feedback for both participants and businesses throughout Greater Manchester and Lancashire in 2025. These events have not only provided young people with practical skills but have also fostered a sense of community and collaboration. Salford City F.C.’s involvement could elevate the initiative even further, ensuring more young people are equipped for success.
Reflecting on his journey from the terraces of Old Trafford to his role at Genuine Futures, Mike shares, “I watched Scholes, Giggs, Beckham, Butt, and the Neville brothers play their hearts out for Manchester United. Now, I want to see them play a part in shaping the future. Together, we can make a real difference.”
Mike is reaching out to Salford City F.C. and its co-owners to join forces and support this meaningful cause. He is eager to see the positive changes that can arise from collaboration and community support.
