🌱 A Youth-Led Movement in Bolton

As part of the Youth Matters 2026–2030 strategy, Genuine Futures is creating real opportunities for young people across Bolton through enterprise, engagement, and hands-on learning.

Through its signature programme, Boss Your Future, Genuine Futures has established itself as Bolton’s leading NEET provision, supporting young people who are not in education, employment, or training to reconnect, rebuild confidence, and progress into real opportunities.

One of the latest initiatives is Bolton’s Only Community Car Wash, taking place in Little Lever — a powerful example of how youth-led enterprise can drive real change at a local level.

🚀 From NEET to Opportunity

Across Bolton, many young people face barriers to employment and education. Through Boss Your Future, Genuine Futures supports young people who are NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) to move forward with purpose.

This community car wash in Little Lever is more than an event — it’s part of a wider youth enterprise model in Bolton, giving young people the opportunity to:

  • Build confidence through real interaction
  • Develop employability and enterprise skills
  • Engage directly with residents and local businesses
  • Take ownership of meaningful work

🚐 We Shine Any Car: Enterprise in Action

At the heart of this initiative is We Shine Any Car, a youth-led car wash and valeting service delivered by young people.

Operating from the Genuine Futures Hub and across community locations, young people are providing:

  • Car washing and valeting services
  • Mobile cleaning at events and workplaces
  • Customer engagement and promotion

With regular returning customers, this enterprise is demonstrating how social enterprise in Bolton can create sustainable, real-world opportunities.

🤝 Community Engagement in Little Lever

The event at Little Lever Working Men’s Club is a standout example of youth-led community engagement.

Young people have taken the lead by:

  • Speaking directly with residents
  • Distributing leaflets
  • Promoting their services
  • Connecting with local businesses

A key driver behind this event has been Aaron, who has worked closely with the club committee to bring this to life in his own community.

“This means a lot to me because it’s my community. I’ve been out speaking to people, letting them know what we’re doing, and working with the club to make this happen. It’s not just about washing cars — it’s about showing what we can do and giving something back.”
— Aaron, Boss Your Future Participant

Aaron’s leadership reflects the core of the programme — giving young people the opportunity to step up, take responsibility, and make a positive impact where they live.
