Young People Shine as Customer Praises Youth-Led Valeting Service at Genuine Futures in Bolton

A Bolton-based youth enterprise is celebrating after a customer praised both the quality of service and the positive learning environment created for young people at the Genuine Futures Youth Enterprise Hub.
Wes, a recent customer, said he will be returning and “spreading the word” after receiving a full valet from Keir and Cameron, two young people developing real-world skills through Genuine Futures’ youth-led car valeting enterprise, We Shine Any Car.
He described his vehicle as “absolutely sparkling” and praised Genuine Futures as “a great place for young people to learn,” highlighting the impact of hands-on, work-based learning opportunities.
Genuine Futures CIC operates from The Scrappers site on Waterloo Street in Bolton, where young people take part in practical enterprise activities designed to build confidence, employability, and progression into work, training, or further education.
Through programmes such as We Shine Any Car, young people gain experience in customer service, teamwork, punctuality, and professional standards, while delivering commercial services to the local community.
Sam Smith, Co-Director of Genuine Futures, said:
“Feedback like this means everything to our young people. When customers recognise both the quality of the service and the effort our young people put in, it builds confidence and shows them that they belong in professional environments. That belief can be life-changing.”
Income generated from the enterprise is reinvested directly into youth training, equipment, mentoring, and expanding opportunities for more young people across Bolton.
Genuine Futures is part of a growing partnership model that brings together local businesses, community organisations, and training providers to create practical pathways into employment for young people who may otherwise struggle to access opportunities.
